1. Flash Point
When the lubricating oil is heated in the open oil holder, the oil and gas formed is in contact with the flame, and the lowest oil temperature that can flash is called the flash point (opening) of the lubricating oil. It characterizes the volatility of lubricating oil.

The lubricating oil used in the refrigeration compressor, its flash point should be 25~35 ° C higher than its exhaust temperature, so as not to cause the burning and coking of lubricating oil. Usually for R22, R12 and ammonia lubricating oil, its flash point should be above 160 ° C.

2. Chemical stability
The lubricating oil in the refrigeration compressor is in contact with the inner gasket, refrigeration working medium, water and air under the catalytic action of high temperature and metal, which will cause decomposition, polymerization and oxidation reaction, resulting in bituminous precipitates and coke, etc. Most of these substances accumulate in the highest temperature valve part, destroying its sealing, and will block the filter, oil pipeline and expansion valve and other channels after flowing into the system.

The decomposition of lubricating oil will generate corrosive acid, which will corrode the electrical insulation material in the closed compressor, which will lead to poor electrical insulation and motor burn accidents. Therefore, the lubricating oil is required to have good stability and oxidation resistance.

3. Water content and mechanical impurities
When the lubricant contains moisture, it will aggravate the chemical reaction and cause corrosion of metal and insulation materials, and also cause ice blockage in the expansion valve.

When there are copper parts in the freon compressor, it interacts with the water and freon in the lubricating oil, and the copper is separated on the surface of other parts, that is, "copper plating".

Copper plating is most likely to accumulate on the smooth steel friction surface, such as the journal, cylinder wall, piston and air valve, which will reduce the gap between these relative moving parts, reduce the sealing of the air valve, and even make the compressor can not work normally.

Therefore, when selecting lubricating oil, pay attention to the water content index of lubricating oil is less than 20~40mg/kg, the less water the better.

Confusion oil must be sealed when stored, otherwise it will absorb water vapor in the air and increase its water content.
